Getting the leg back August 11, 2008
Posted by boardgrl RunTendonitis hurts, plain and simple - and mine started right after my last tri where the road was pitched - apparently differentiations in “leg length” can contribute to tendonitis. I’ve been resting and massaging it for a week and a half now and it’s feeling much much better. Also, running slowly and with shortened paces every three days (instead of every other day) has helped quite a bit too. Maybe I can pick up the pace a little now.

My leg hurts today August 6, 2008
Posted by boardgrl RunI ran a slow 3 miles with shortened steps as my left leg has been hurting. I picked up a case of iliotibial tendonitis and should be resting it but I’m on vacation and actually WANT to run. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow.

Tri Training the Sequel July 28, 2008
Posted by boardgrl RunTri training group started up again today - yay! Feels good to be working out in a group again. I joined the 5:30am crazy insomniacs group since I most likely wouldn’t make a 5:30 pm training session. Last tri training group had 6 people, this one has a whopping 15 people (the swim sessions should be interesting!) Ran a nicely paced 9min mile and got back to our start point third out of the group of 15, so I felt pretty high on myself. My knee has been hurting me though since the twilight tri - thought it was just a strain, but I think it might be tendonitis, we’ll see.

Run/Swim Lite July 22, 2008
Posted by boardgrl RunRan a little over 2 miles (kids met me at pool too soon after I started to do anymore unfortunately), swam 800 yards to get some swim time in before being cajoled into underwater tea parties. This is okay as I am just doing maintenance work outs this week in preparation for this Saturday’s twilight Tri.

Posted by boardgrl RunRan on the treadmill today, level 6 with 0 ascension, worked on pace and form and focus. Went the distance but not in the time I wanted, so will have to increase to a 6.5 and see what kind of time I get. Then once I have that down, I’ll raise the ascension to a 2 incline and see how that effects me. Eventually will get to a 9.5 min mile and will be able to run 5 miles straight on thru.

It’s HOT at 8:30am! June 6, 2008
Posted by boardgrl RunRan 3 miles at 8:30am, which is roughly the time we will be doing said deed two days from now at the Dunedin Triathlon (sprint). We’re a little north of Tampa and it was HOT running the asphalt at 8:30. Normally we run at 5:30am or 7pm, but this morning gave me an appreciation for just how hot it will be for the race which is down by the beach with not a spot of shade to be had. I’m not a hat person, but I’m thinking of becoming one fast.

My favorite sports include: Tennis, Horseback riding, Snowboarding, Skiing, Waterskiing, Volleyball
My goals are: To fully tone my body and train for my first mini-triathlon at Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, FL on June 8th (anyone else out there participating in this one?).

Posted by boardgrl General Cardio, RunWorked out at gym with friend Emily last night - focused on cardio, arms and abs - interval running/walking on treadmill. First time I’ve ever run on a treadmill as I prefer trail, but hey, it wasn’t too bad.
Worked out with Emily again today - it’s nice having a personal trainer as one of your best friends - played Tennis for 45 mins then swam for 30 mins. My legs felt soooo heavy after swimming but I read that’s normal. A long-time triathlon coach is offering training at my Y, so I may pick that up as I’ll possibly stay motivated if someone like that is pushing me - ah, yeah, and if I’m paying for it that helps the motivation factor too.
I do need to figure out the right nutrition for this training - gotta check the posts.
