My daughter Sydney, 8, signed up for youth triathlon training because apparently I’ve inspired her to do so! She’s a good swimmer and a fast runner and I think with some training she’ll do well if she trains right and sticks with it. While she was training, I took advantage of the free 45mins and swam 900 yards focusing on form.

Tri training group started up again today - yay! Feels good to be working out in a group again. I joined the 5:30am crazy insomniacs group since I most likely wouldn’t make a 5:30 pm training session. Last tri training group had 6 people, this one has a whopping 15 people (the swim sessions should be interesting!) Ran a nicely paced 9min mile and got back to our start point third out of the group of 15, so I felt pretty high on myself. My knee has been hurting me though since the twilight tri - thought it was just a strain, but I think it might be tendonitis, we’ll see.

Ran a little over 2 miles (kids met me at pool too soon after I started to do anymore unfortunately), swam 800 yards to get some swim time in before being cajoled into underwater tea parties. This is okay as I am just doing maintenance work outs this week in preparation for this Saturday’s twilight Tri.

After two weeks sick with a respiratory infection, I am finally starting to get back on track. Started with a swim, but didn’t get far - only did 400yds. Could I have lost that much endurance in two weeks? Probably still a little weak from being sick, will keep pushing through it and get back on track. Next Tri is in 12 days and I’m sunk if I can’t get back to at least where I was two weeks ago.

Almost forgot to post this one - but it was such a good workout, I had to.  Went kneeboarding for the third time ever - first was on Tarpon Lake,  this time was in the intercoastal at Indian Rocks Beach.  Was a blast!  It was early, so very few boats, but it was low, low tide which was a bit freaky with not knowing where the sandbars were.  Dolphins swam right by me about 12 feet away, it was surreal.  Boarded for a good half hour up and down the coastline doing some 180 and 360s - good for building core and upper arm strength!  Arms were tired and one knee was rubbed raw from jumping along the chop.  Totally worth it though and now I’m hooked on yet another sport!
